A Perth courier business since 1988.

Welshpool-based. Family-owned. Small fleet by design.

ACE started life as ACE Couriers in 1988, running local jobs around Perth back when the city’s freight network was smaller and most operators worked off two-way radios. The brand has changed hands a couple of times since. The current ownership took over in early 2003 and has run it the same way ever since.

The model

The office is in Welshpool. Dispatch sits in that office. The drivers know the dispatchers, the dispatchers know the drivers, and most of them have worked together long enough to know the work without needing a script. If you ring the line, you’re talking to a real person in Welshpool — not a call centre routing the job to whoever’s nearest on an app.

Why small

The fleet is deliberately small, and that’s not a constraint we’re working around — it’s the model. A small fleet means the dispatcher knows your dock door without checking a screen, drivers don’t change every other week, and the freight gets handled by people who’ve handled it before. For workshop runs, industrial parts work and technical service deliveries where timing and consistency carry more weight than scale, that matters.

The work

Most of what ACE moves is repeat commercial work for Perth metro businesses. Automotive parts running between suppliers, workshops and service networks — we’ve been doing that for well over a decade. Industrial components moving between depots, sites and trade customers. Technical service support for teams whose day stops if the right part doesn’t turn up. Permanent runs for businesses that have already worked out their transport pattern and just want it to happen. And some bulkier work where the vehicle and scope need matching up before the job starts.

What ACE doesn’t chase

ACE isn’t a parcel network and isn’t trying to be one. Broad consumer delivery, low-margin volume courier work, and always-on after-hours coverage aren’t part of the core. There are operators set up for that. We’d rather do what we’re good at than dilute it.

The group

ACE operates as part of Leggett Group, an Australian transport group with brands across Melbourne and the eastern states. From the customer side that mostly means stronger admin, finance, systems and operating discipline sitting behind the Perth business. The office, dispatch and drivers are still local — the group sits behind them, not in front of them.

If the work you need moved fits how ACE is set up, opening an account is the easiest way to get started. Or ring the office in Welshpool and we’ll talk it through.
